Adam Rivard

What did you do prior to entering the seminary?
I studied economics at Wilfrid Laurier University and McMaster University. I worked as a policy analyst, data specialist, and briefly taught economics at the college level.

What influenced your decision to apply for seminary entrance?
I had felt the call to the priesthood occasionally for several years, and after a powerful experience in prayer, it became clear that I needed to seriously discern my vocation. Eventually, I realized that this is where God is calling me.

Why do you desire to be a priest?
Most of all, I desire to do God's will, serve others, and make disciples. I believe I can best do this as a priest.

What are your favourite pastimes?
Sports and reading.

What is your favourite quote?
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." -Psalm 23

Who is your favourite Saint and why?
Saint Peter because I can relate to the struggles he faces growing in faith in the Gospels. 

What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the seminary?

Trust in God. This might be the most important decision of your life, but there's no reason to worry about it if you trust in God.
